Description

This book aims to put a smile on people’s faces. It is quirky, eccentric and upbeat. In the rather violent world that we currently live in, this book acts like a small antidote to the carnage all around us. There is no violence or sex in this gentle novella and instead artistic pleasures are placed in the foreground. Painting, song-writing and making jewellery are included and a range of characters are introduced. No one character dwarfs the others and the central place itself (The Ravenbourne Sepulchre) becomes the prime subject focus. It is the big ‘constant’ in this novella with all the characters having a large or small connection with it.

Characters chase ‘Sky-Lanterns’ across the countryside during the small-hours, sip tea from blue-willow cups and witness ghosts on a couple of occasions! There are moral messages built into the text on occasions, but these are underplayed as gentle comments that coalesce with the rest of the writing. This book is at the behest of my beloved wife Amanda and it represents a temporary departure from the subject matter that I usually favour. If my readers enjoy this book, I will undertake more work in the same literary vein.
